Ever since I was a kid I was fascinated by the people who had this courage to venture into the world and do something different. For a very long time I had this idea of leaving everything behind and letting myself be carried across the land just by my thumb.
For me it wasn't a question of if, but when. And my time finally came.
In July 2024 I left everything behind and I jumped on a one way flight to Japan, which would mark the start of a one-year journey around the world.
My plan was simple: after reaching Tokyo jump on another flight to the northernmost city in Japan, and not only that but reach the northernmost point in Japan, and from there start hitchhiking as south as the country goes.
Me being the northernmost man in Japan
On my first hitchhiking day I just couldn't believe how easy it was to catch rides. Before I knew it I was in Sapporo, which was my first stop of this trip.
From here my journey took me through tens of Japanese cities, each unique in it's own way, during the course of 68 days.
My hitchmap ended up looking like this.
During the course of this journey I managed to meet the craziest people I've ever met in my life, and truly had the time of my life.
From hitchhiking with the Yakuza to almost ending up sleeping on the side of the road, I lived it all during this epic trip.
This is the kind of a trip that is impossible to be described in only a short article on my blog project, but it was truly life-changing.
If you liked reading it maybe consider hiring me ! There's no challenge I can't tackle.
Thanks for reading :)
